While Katy Internal Medicine Associates (KIMA) is an independent practice established in 1981, we are members of physician networks that enable us to access and become network providers for your health insurance plans. One of the physician network memberships is with the Memorial Hermann Physician Network (MHMD).

In 2022, MHMD and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) renegotiated an agreement with an expiration date of March 31, 2026. Several months ago, MHMD and BCBSTX entered renegotiations, but were unfortunately unable to come to an agreement on renewal terms and conditions before 11:59 pm on March 31st. 

Effective April 1, 2026, KIMA is now a designated out-of-network provider for BCBSTX commercial insurance plans only. This does not apply to BCBSTX Medicare Advantage Plan members.

A 30-day extension of network coverage was granted, but applies only to the UT System, State of Texas ERS, State of Texas TRS, and Texas A&M groups. While the timeframe for completing a renegotiation is unknown, we have begun contacting patients with appointments scheduled for April 2026 to prevent claims from being processed and paid by BCBSTX as an out-of-network provider.
